About two months ago I got a call from the lovely Amy at Boodles about an Engagement Party that they were considering hosting, she told me about how they had an idea to invite some of their recently engaged couples and showcase some suppliers that they work alongside that might be able to help out when the time came for the couple's to start planning their wedding.
Of course, when she then asked if I would like to be the photographer there I nearly squealed down the phone and there may have been a little dance around my kitchen before I obviously said 'yes'! (Which, by the way, is the ONLY answer when it comes to Boodles!)
For those of you that don't know of Boodles, it is a British luxury jewellers which originated in Liverpool, and now has nine showrooms dotted around the country - the second of which was in Chester in the 1960's. Having been there for so long it's naturally become quite a central point of the city, placed directly underneath the Grosvenor Hotel near the Eastgate Tower. The window displays themselves are a sight to be seen; for as long as I can remember, on every single trip into Chester, I have gazed through and laid eyes on the most flawless, absolutely beautiful pieces of jewellery. Rings, bracelets, necklaces... Some completely dainty, others jaw-droppingly striking.
In addition to myself, there was a travel company called Kuoni Holidays on hand to discuss Honeymoons, a couple of girls from the Grosvenor Hotel spa giving hand massages and manicures, Rococo chocolates, the place was decked with beautiful flowers from Wild Florist and the canapés had been created by Bar Lounge.
It didn't take long for the newly-engaged couples to start arriving. The champagne to started flowing and the delicious canapés were walked around by the fabulous, friendly staff of Bar Lounge. I heard some very exciting proposal stories, I was allowed to wear a stunning necklace all night, I tried on a diamond ring that was nearly as big as my head and most importantly I got to meet some lovely people.
I love my job all the time but on evenings like that.. Surrounded by sparkle... I love it that little bit more!
