I L O V E P A R I S ! ! ! !
The love affair between myself and this beautiful city began the moment I watched Sabrina as a child (I was wellll old before my time!)... Not Sabrina Fair - although I do adore Audrey Hepburn - but the Julia Ormond/Harrison Ford/Greg Kinnear version from 1995. Sabrina ran away to Paris to get away from boy troubles and ended up working in fashion, styling shoots in Paris for a photographer... I've been to Paris maybe three times since watching that film and have fallen more and more in love with each and every visit.
Last month myself and a photographer friend of mine, Jessica O'Shaughnessy, decided to book a trip to Paris for some shooting time. The plan was to book in real couple's and style them in a way we wanted rather than booking models - that way the love and chemistry would be completely authentic!
We took a suitcase full of clothes and accessories, scouted out locations and spent the best part of an hour dashing through the streets of Montmartre looking for a florist before meeting Ophélie and Djamal at the steps of the Sacré-Cœur.
Djamal was little more nervous than Ophélie but the two of them were an absolute dream to work with; so natural and romantic together. Initially they were a little shy, their confidence developed throughout their shoot though which completely shows through the photographs as they begin opening up, completely beaming and practically brimming with love for each other!
We chose Montmartre simply because it is so French! You'll know what I mean when you see it! The tourists were attempting to sneakily photograph Ophélie and Djamal, the locals were clapping and congratulating with shouts of "félicitations!", children were staring - clearly unsure of what to make of it all and the pigeons were... Well they were just waddling around being pigeons!
Brace yourself for a long (sorry!) but beautiful chunk of photographs that absolutely ooze Parisian charm!
